HOW IT ALL BEGAN

A Daughter's Wedding.

A Nation's Wake-Up Call.

It started at a wedding in Delhi — April 2026. The founder watched his sister, draped in an expensive but machine-made saree, walk toward the mandap. Everything was beautiful. Yet something felt deeply wrong.

The saree — bought for ₹40,000 from a luxury store — had been
woven by a machine in under 3 hours. The "zari" was polyester thread dipped in gold paint. The "silk" was synthetic. The store had sold a beautiful lie.
That moment of rage and grief became a mission. Within weeks, he was in Varanasi, speaking to master weavers whose families had served Indian brides for 400 years — men whose art was dying because no one valued real craft anymore.

On April 14, 2026 — Baisakhi, the most auspicious harvest day — श्रीVadhu was founded. Named for the glorious bride (श्री = Lakshmi's grace, वधू = bride), it was a promise: every Indian bride deserves to be dressed as the goddess she truly is.

ध्येय

OUR MISSION

To restore the sacred truth of the Indian bridal saree

श्रीVadhu exists to end the era of imitation in Indian bridal fashion. In a marketplace flooded with machine-made polyester masquerading as silk and gold-painted thread sold as zari, we stand as the last line of defence for authentic Indian craft.

Our mission is threefold: to dress every bride in genuine, handmade silk worthy of her sacred day; to sustain and celebrate the artisan families whose generational knowledge is India's greatest cultural treasure; and to rebuild the broken trust between India's brides and India's weavers.

Every saree we make is a direct act of cultural restoration. One bride. One saree. One weaver family honoured.

दृष्टि

OUR VISION

A world where every Indian bride is dressed as the goddess she is

We envision an India where the bridal saree is once again treated with the reverence it deserves — not as a fashion purchase, but as a sacred heirloom in the making.

By 2030, we aim to be India's most trusted name in luxury bridal sarees — not the largest, but the most respected. We will have sustained over 100 artisan families, created a living archive of India's endangered weaving traditions, and delivered over 10,000 brides their divine drape.

Our vision is not just commercial. It is civilisational. We want the daughters of today's brides to look at a श्रीVadhu saree in a glass cabinet and say: "My mother wore this. And it was the most beautiful thing I ever saw."

WHAT WE STAND FOR

Our Sacred Values

सत्य
TRUTH IN CRAFT

We never use synthetic silk, machine-made zari or printed patterns and call them hand- woven. Every material we use is exactly what we say it is. This truth is non-negotiable.

भक्ति

DEVOTION IN EVERY THREAD

We believe fabric carries energy. Sarees made with patience, prayer and love feel different when worn. This is why every piece is created and blessed with intention.

धरोहर

HERITAGE PRESERVATION

India has over 75 distinct weaving traditions - many on the verge of extinction. Every saree we commission actively funds and preserves these dying arts for future generations.

श्रम

ARTISAN DIGNITY

Every weaver who works with us is paid fairly, credited openly, and treated as the artist they are. Their craft is the brand. Without them, there is no श्रीVadhu.

सेवा

BRIDE-FIRST SERVICE

Every decision we make begins with the bride. Her comfort, her joy, her confidence on her sacred day is the only metric that matters to us. Everything else is secondary.

विरासत

LEGACY THINKING

We do not make sarees for a season. We make them for a lifetime and beyond. The question we ask of every piece is: "Will her granddaughter treasure this in 60 years?"

A NOTE FROM THE FOUNDER

"I did not start श्रीVadhu to build a business. I started it because I could no longer stand watching India's most sacred moment — a woman becoming a bride — be dishonored by dishonest fabric."

My sister's wedding changed everything. She was radiant. She was joyful. But the saree she wore — ₹40,000 spent, synthetic threads woven by a machine — felt like an insult to every woman who had walked to a mandap before her.

I spent the next three months in Varanasi, in Kanchipuram, in the workshops of masters who had been weaving since before India was independent. I saw hands that had woven sarees for maharanis. I saw those same hands sitting idle because brides were choosing cheaper, faster, shinier imitations.

That is the wound श्रीVadhu exists to heal.

We are not in competition with fast fashion. We are its opposite. Every saree we make takes weeks. Every piece carries the weight of a tradition that spans centuries. And every bride who wears our work steps into her sacred day knowing that what she carries on her body is the real thing — the true, blessed, handmade real thing.

We started in April 2026 with a simple promise: dress the bride as the goddess she is. That promise does not change. It only deepens.

WHERE WE ARE GOING

Our Clear Goals

These are not aspirations. These are commitments — written in the same spirit of devotion as the
sarees we make.

100 ARTISAN FAMILIES SUSTAINED

By 2028, every order placed with श्रीVadhu will directly support one of 100 artisan families across India's weaving heartlands — Varanasi, Kanchipuram, Chanderi, Patan, Murshidabad and beyond. Fair wages. Full credit. Lasting dignity.

TARGET · 2028

10,000 DIVINE BRIDES SERVED

10,000 Indian brides walking into their sacred day wearing genuine, handcrafted silk. 10,000 moments where the saree on her body is not a purchase — it is a blessing. This is our most personal goal.

TARGET · 2030

LIVING ARCHIVE OF INDIAN WEAVES

We will document, preserve, and publish a complete digital archive of India's 75+ weaving traditions — their history, their patterns, their masters. This archive will be free, forever, for every Indian who wants to know what their culture truly looks like.

TARGET · 2027

ZERO SYNTHETIC IN BRIDAL WEAR

We will lead a nationwide movement — with other ethical brands, with certification bodies, with bridal associations — to mandate clear labelling of synthetic vs genuine silk in Indian bridal wear. Brides deserve to know what they are buying.

TARGET · 2029

STUDIOS IN 5 CITIES

Intimate, by-appointment-only studios in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Varanasi — where brides can experience the full श्रीVadhu ritual: being measured, consulted, and draped by our master stylists in a space that feels like a temple, not a store.

TARGET · 2028

NEXT GENERATION WEAVER PROGRAMME

A funded apprenticeship programme where the children of our artisan families can learn the craft from their parents — with a guaranteed livelihood. Because the greatest tragedy is not a dying tradition. It is a child who wanted to carry it on, but couldn't afford to.
